TUITION FEES & POLICIES

1. Tuition covers 36 sessions* of instruction throughout the year. (*Sessions include lessons, studio masterclasses, dress rehearsals, Music Festivals, and Recitals). Fees also cover the cost of prep/planning, photocopying, equipment maintenance, etc.

2. Unless specific arrangements have been agreed upon before the start of lessons in September of the registered year, a commitment to participate in studio lessons is a commitment for the full scholastic year.

3. The year is divided into 2 terms: September–January and February–June. Payment for lessons are due by the following schedule and can be made by Cash, Post-Dated Cheque (Sept-June) or E-Transfer:

          a) The first lesson of the term ($450 for 30 minutes, $650 for 45 minutes, $825 for 60 minutes)

          b) The last lesson of the previous month, ie. payment for November is due last lesson of October. ($90 for  30 minutes, $130 for 45 minutes, $165 for 60 minutes)

4. Late fees of $5 per month will be applied to accounts where payment has not been received by the 15th of the applied month.

5. Time lost to late arrival will not be made up.

6. A maximum of two sessions (with 24 hours notice) may be rescheduled. This includes (but not limited to) family trips, school trips, extracurricular activities. Further sessions will not be rescheduled and will be forfeit.

7. If you are sick, please do not attend your lesson. This is for the health and safety of yourself, other students, and my family. Lessons will be rescheduled based on availability and is not guaranteed.

8. Statutory holidays will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

9. Lessons cancelled by Sarah will be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable date and time.

10. Fees are subject to change at the start of each season (September – June). Notice of changes in the fee structure will be communicated by the end of June of the previous year.

12. RCM students may require extra sessions for preparation (over and above the 36 sessions tuition). Sessional rate of $25 per 30 minutes may be invoiced on case-by-case basis.

11. A Deposit of $50 for new students, and $35 for returning students is required by the end of June each year to reserve a place in the studio for the coming September. Deposits will be credited to the family’s account at the start of the 1st term. Deposits are non-refundable to families opting to cancel their studio registration.

12. Discontinuation of lessons requires 3 weeks notice – this gives us time to wrap up any current projects and discuss how the student can continue to follow their music goals. This also allows me the necessary time to fill that empty lesson slot so that I can avoid a loss in income. Thank you for your consideration.

STUDIO EXPECTATIONS

1. Students are expected to come to lessons prepared with the previous week’s assignments completed and all materials on hand.

2. To ensure the integrity of the goals and expectations of the studio, any collaboration with other instructors may only be done with my full knowledge.

3. Mutual respect between student, parent, and instructor is an expectation in my studio. As studio instructor, I reserve the right to remove students from the schedule for any of the following conditions:

         a. The student consistently shows lack of preparation for lessons;

          b. The student/parent shows disrespect for my objectives and policies; or

          c. The student/parent acts in a manner that would bring disgrace upon my studio, it’s

programs, and it's participants.

4. All registrations for Music Festival, Practical/Theory Examinations, or University Auditions will be made in consultation with me.

5. Families will be responsible for all administrative registration activity (forms for Festivals, Examination Applications, University Applications, etc.).

6. For Music Festival, Examinations, and all other performances I will arrange for a qualified accompanist to rehearse with the student before and at the event. Accompanists will charge an additional fee for their services.

7. I encourage all parents to keep in touch with me regarding their student’s progress. Please do not come after your student’s lesson to discuss progress or concerns, as this is unfair to the next student. You may come during the lesson or email/call me at another time.
